It’s also the inner voice that tells us if we can not push that far now or that it is okay to quit.
Everyone, whether you are young or old, male or female, athlete or not, needs to build their mental strength during exercise and weight training. Building your mental strength is necessary to the belief that you can do hard things.
In fitness, our mental toughness can affect the way we push ourselves in the gym or through times where we don’t feel like we’re getting the results we desire.
Many people believe that they don’t need to stretch themselves to reach the goals they desire, but the truth is we all need it. Especially in our fitness routines. If you always do what is comfortable, you won’t reach your goals. It’s that simple.

Define what mental toughness means to you personally. Write it down and give yourself specific examples of how you can show mental strength in each area of your life.

You can certainly move toward your goals, but don’t expect everything at once. Focus on small victories that will build on each other to get you where you want to go.
3. Practice accepting what you can and cannot control.
Acceptance of what you can and cannot control can affect your mental health in multiple ways. Change is a natural part of life, and if we can acknowledge and accept the change that we cannot control, it will help us become more resilient over time.
4. Set high standards.
Raise the bar and set higher standards for yourself. By doing this it sets your mind to pushing harder and to work outside of your comfort zone.
5. Acquire new skills.
Go ahead with trying something new once a day, or once a week, to push yourself to grow. The best way to develop your mental toughness is to try something new and stretch your mind, body and spirit.
It is an important part of your personal growth to work daily to build your mental toughness. Think to yourself why you have not tried a new exercise, try a new recipe, add more sets to your workout or take up a hobby you have never tried before. The smallest thing can have the greatest impact.
