Typically, people focus on how they look when it comes to their fitness goals rather than how to move better.
What do you focus on?
How much do you weigh? The way you look in the mirror?
What do you think about your movement? Did you know that the way you move will impact the way you look, your weight and so much more? Movement matters.
Moving better will help you feel better, look better and live better!
Sometimes we treat our bodies like computers. We wait until we really need it to address the areas we need most. You only use it to write documents and check email. Then, you decide to try to watch a movie on a long flight so you try to download something to watch. What happens nine out of ten times? Everything stops working because you didn’t realize your computer didn’t have the capabilities to do what you need it to.

You think your body is running well because you aren’t really pushing any limits. For the most part, you don’t have any issues, until you do. You ignore areas you aren’t having to use, like the way you move, because you don’t think it’s important.
Don’t wait for your body to break down, work to move better today!
Then, you try to do something new. You try a new activity, you decide you want to run again, or your doctor tells you to start exercising regularly. You push your body harder than it’s been pushed in a while and what happens?
Think about that computer. If you got help ahead of time and assessed your storage space, your apps, and the key components to make the movie work, you would have avoided a lot of pain and frustration. The same goes for your body.
When you move better, you’re able to do the things you love to do.
This is why you can’t wait until you HAVE to start moving better. Stop waiting and start moving better now! Then, when you need your body to do something different it’s ready and not overwhelmed.
Movement is the foundation of your ability to live your best life. When you can move freely, you live freely. Are you living your best life?
The 4 steps to starting moving better today:
1. Assess your current movement patterns.
Assessing your movement patterns will give you the information you need to see results and address the proper areas.
2. Gain muscle symmetry.
Muscle symmetry in the areas of balance, flexibility, and strength is required for proper, efficient movement patterns. Strength should be focused on proper movement, using machines or dumbbells when ready.
3. Test again.
Re-testing is necessary to ensure you are progressing and seeing results. If you don’t reassess every 4-8 weeks, you will lose sight of the areas you’ve improved and not know where you should refocus your attention.
4. Continue building strength through movement.
This is where functional movement patterns and agility should come into play. When functional movement and agility are introduced too early, there is more opportunity for injury and less opportunity for victory.
Moving through each of these four steps with our Free Power of Muscle challenge will set you up for success and get you moving better than you ever have before.
