There has been so much change lately that maintaining any kind of “typical” routine is almost impossible. I understand, it’s affected me too. It’s like you woke up one day and everything you knew to be normal changed.
How can you maintain your workout routine, keep working toward success and avoid setbacks when you no longer have the ability to go to your gym, attend your running group or your favorite group fitness classes?
Here are 10 of our best tactics to help you tackle your at home workouts and keep working towards success and victory during this crazy time.
1. Keep setting goals.
You may be struggling right now because you lost sight of what you were working towards from the start. Set a new goal or two that will help you have a focus for the next 30 days.
2. Be realistic.
When you consider your goal(s) for the next 30 days or so, be realistic. Assume you will be limited to working out at home and make sure your goal is something attainable under the current circumstance. For example, exercising 30 minutes a day, at least 4 days a week may be a great place to start.
3. Create a plan.
Come up with a plan. How are you going to get there?
4. Find/create a space for your workouts.
It is important that you create a space, or identify spaces that are available for you to use regularly for your workouts. This could be office space, space in a bedroom, your patio, or even an open greenbelt that will provide space for you to exercise while still practicing social distancing.
5. Get outside!
It is important for your mental health to still get outside daily or every couple days. Use a route in your neighborhood to walk, ride your bike, or run.
6. Gather your equipment and tools.
Locate what you have available to use for your workouts. Gather your yoga mat, resistance bands, dumbbells, or any other equipment you want to use and make sure it is all accessible in the space you have designated for your workouts. The easier you make it to locate and get your tools together, the more likely you will be to get the work done!
7. Find support and accountability.
It is always important to have support and accountability when working towards a goal. This is even more important now! Ask a friend or family member to be your accountability partner, or contact us today and find out how you can join our M3 Virtual Training Program.
